On Tuesday evening, Xiao (a pseudonym) attended a music concert for single people in Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
"I'm a music enthusiast, and this concert, combined with the singles activities, makes me very excited," Xiao said.
She believes that meeting like-minded people is the most important part of dating. Those who attend the concert all love music, which makes it easier to communicate.
The "Love in Nanning" event made a splash and celebrated the upcoming Sanyuesan Festival.
Sanyuesan, the third day of the third month in the Chinese lunar calendar, is a traditional festival for the Zhuang ethnic group of Guangxi. This year, the festival falls on Thursday, April 11.
Singers and bands performed classic love songs at the concert to create a romantic atmosphere for single men and women.
The concert opened with the famous song "Love ING" as a soundtrack for activities wherein the attendees could get to know each other. The show's climax featured a bonfire. Nearly 1,000 people gathered around to dance in a circle.
Social media platforms have helped spread the word about the event, with "singles" and "music" becoming trending terms.
The concert will resume on Wednesday and Thursday and is planned to continue every Saturday. Tickets for available shows are already sold out.
"In addition to the single men and women participating in the event, all the staff on the stage are also single, making it a true singles party," said Zhang Chao, the concert's director, adding that they hope participants enjoy the music and find romance.
